This is a sturdy katana, thicker than most blades used for tatami cutting. It is alo heavier and takes some practice to get used to, but when you are used to it, it slices through tatami mats like it is air! Very happy with it, so far no bend in it, while thinner blade katanas in use need work when hitting tatami the wrong way.

This sword came just as shown, and is in top quality. There is but one minor complaint, but it doesn't affect the product in any way: There is a slight flaw where the cord wraps around the saya, and a small scratch going up an inch along the saya, from that point. Again, it's nothing to worry about. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my purchase, and I will buy from the seller again, if I see another sword I like.

Had a very small rust spot. Not a big deal. It came off with 1,000 grit. Almost with the 3,000 grit Japanese Whetstone. Very happy for the price. $300.00 for a $600.00 Katana. Very sturdy, and thick. This Cold Steel Warrior Katana is better than expected. I have had the sword for two weeks now.The sword arrived with some dirt on it that wiped off easily. I agree with other reviewers that this katana is blade heavy making quick recovery during forms more than a bit difficult. The blade is sharp enough to catch on a thumb nail when scraping over the nail to check sharpness but not shaving sharp. The katana cuts completely through water bottles better than many of the videos depict on You Tube.

This is my third katana and I instantly love this one the most. It is heavier than the others but the balance makes it feel perfect. All the fittings are tight and beautiful. The scabbard fits tightly too(actually too tight, but it will loosen over time). It arrived with light oil on it, but I found 1 spot of rust(about 2mm long by .25mm wide - tiny) that I will sand off before I sharpen. Oh yeah, it has an edge but I wouldn't call it sharp. It wouldn't pass the paper test out of the box, which is fine by me because I like to sharpen by blade myself. Looks like the images. I would have liked if it had come with a certificate about its HRC rating. Came with a blue cloth cover bag. I planned to take off the handle and give the blade a black satin rustoleum coat, but it is so beautiful I'm not sure if I will now.

The sword is oilde not too light not too thick, its edge is not as sharp as it could be but is still battle ready, I'd suggest getting a wet stone to sharpen. The steel is a modern way of recreating Damascus steel so it is Damascus steel in a way. The sword is pretty well balanced and its only flaw is the handle isn't as pretty but with looking at it more thoroughly its very sturdy. No katana is meant for cutting tree limbs as no sword should be used as such, the metal is long so it will bend if hit against something its not meant for. Although bamboo is tougher its also hollow. Don't forget to oil it every once in a while as it is a metal that can rust. Treat ur sword with respect and proper use and it will last. It is in fact a great sword and I'm still loving it.

This is an awesome weapon. Yes, weapon. This is not a toy or a show piece. This Katana came very sharp and battle ready. A few passes in my ceramic sharpener and it is razor sharp. I received my sword today. I am very pleased with the quality... the only "issue" is that I received the Ronin version instead of the Dragon one I ordered but I must say, I am not even slightly disappointed (as a matter of fact.. in hindsight I think it might be better as the Dragon theme has become a bit cliche'). I have a black belt in kenjutsu (Kuki Shinden-Ryu Happo Bikenjutsu) and this is one of my favorite swords. Even though it was not manufactured in a traditional way, it is proof that modern manufacturing techniques can mass produce swords that any ancient samurai would have envied. It handles well, and cuts well. It's razor sharp and nearly indestructible.

At first it felt small in my hand. Very lightweight blade with nice long o-kissake' But the tsuba is kind of small so, this is a nice katana but somewhat feels wakizashi-ish, which i do like its just not the sword i was expecting so at first I was surprised is all. For the price I couldn't be happier with this sword. I debated spending a lot more money and getting a sword with much more pedigree. I'm very glad I decided to take a risk. There is no wobble at all in the sword. The blade is beautiful and for entertainment I went outside and pruned a few trees. The blade worked as well or better than a machete even though it's a thicker blade. If the blade did not bend and it is still very sharp. I was very impressed as I swung very hard.

The only drawback to the sword is it's not very sharp.I did buy a knife sharpener and used it for this blade and when done I wiped the blade down cut through the rag with scary ease.So sharpening the blade is the only thing I recommend.

wellll, it's not perfect. they never are. i do not expect perfection for 320 bux. the blade has 2 or 3 small blemishes, little scratches or marks. not a big deal. if i use it a few times, i will do worse. for the most part, it looks like it has never been used. quite happy with this purchase.this is the 2nd smallest of the set. the spring sakura is the smallest(and my favorite), the other two are pretty beastly, and unwieldy. i have not bent any of them yet, and they clean up pretty easily (stay off the mirror finish part when rubbing, i accidentally dulled a few inches of mine on one of the other swords). behold, the whole dragon king 4 seasons set...

For the price I don't think you can get a better Samurai sword. Normally I collect fantasy swords or medieval time swords but I do have a few katana's and this one is great. While its not my best one for the price, its of great quality. One of the strongest blades I won that isn't truly Damascus steel, but is very close to the strength of such. This blade has a good weight to it, which makes it very easy to cut through many things given it has a sharp edge, which mine does. I usualy love cold steel knives. This katana arrived a bit sub standard. There are rust spots about 2 inches long on the face of the blade. Also on the spine at about the center point on the blade there is a 3 inch rust spot. Most of the length of the blade was dull except for the tip. It appears as if the katana had been stored for a very long time or handled much before it was sold to me. I will however keep it and attempt to buff out the rust then sharpen.

I am very impressed with this sword. The craftsmanship on the handle and hilt are very strong. It came sharpened, but not super sharp, it does come with a layer of grease to prevent rusting, Which is white. The entire construction is sturdy and has a great feel to it. I don't know if it's just an imprinted coloring on the blade or not. But I will say if it turns out to be a plain carbon steel blade, it still is worth way more then paid .

wellll, it's not perfect. they never are. i do not expect perfection for 320 bux. the blade has 2 or 3 small blemishes, little scratches or marks. not a big deal. if i use it a few times, i will do worse. for the most part, it looks like it has never been used. quite happy with this purchase.this is the 2nd smallest of the set. the spring sakura is the smallest(and my favorite), the other two are pretty beastly, and unwieldy. i have not bent any of them yet, and they clean up pretty easily (stay off the mirror finish part when rubbing, i accidentally dulled a few inches of mine on one of the other swords). behold, the whole dragon king 4 seasons set...

OK, so its not a real, folded steel samurai sword. Those cost thousands, and you get what you pay for, however, compare the price to an $85 Ka-bar, and you begin to see how reasonably priced this sword is. I have put this blade through hell and back and it still looks amazing. However I have polished and sharpened along the way I have had this blade for about a year now and it is my favorite. This blade could match just about anything you see a warrior class cold steel katana do. the only thing better than this blade is one that has been deferentially hardened for authenticity but as durability is concerned for most people mono steel is fine, when made of high carbon steel.

This sword is tough! Because the material it is made out of is polypropylene instead of traditional wood, it is a lot more flexible when it comes into impact with something solid. This means there is a less likely hood of chipping or shattering after many uses. Do not let that fool you; however, because if you were to swing this at something, it will still do a lot of damage because while Polypropylene is "flexible," it is still very tough.

Alright.. As a outdoor survivalist/hunter I've had the pleasure of trying many different kinds of blades of all kinds. This particular sword has impressed alot so far. The wrapping is tight, the blade is sharp and the quality of steel is outstanding. My first attempt at a cut was a milk jug I had filled with water... Thinking I needed a fast strong cut I swung fairly hard only to think I had missed. The blade cut so smooth through the bottle (starting at the handle) I didn't even feel it connect with the bottle. Not sure if its luck but the first cut I did left no water on the blade, I thought that was pretty cool. I've handled many katanas and blades and ill tell you this one has an intimidation factor. Even if you are familiar with swords be mindful this one has a slightly different shape than traditional katanas. This is NOT A TOY. I'm very pleased and recommend this for collectors and someone looking for a SOLID beginner battle ready weapon. After several tests with meat/bone believe this to be an excellent choice for defense. I live in the mountains where there are wolves and mountain lions and I feel confident this would put an aggressive animal down easily. The handling is a bit blade heavy but the handle is long enough to have a comfortable swing with alot of blade side leverage to cleave with ease. Again, highly recommended.

this is a great looking sword and based on the sword alone it was good. Mine got damaged in shipping because the box it was shipped in was too small, so the hilt end is "rubbed" and the blade is very difficult to get out of the scabbard. I purchased this Katana to protect myself from zombies. You can imagine my disappointment when shipping was so slow that zombies had killed my whole family before it finally got to me. I was worried about the authenticity of the product as it is far cheaper than on the official musashi website and that in the pictures there is no "musashi" inscription on the gold colored metal piece above the guard. I got the free two day shipping and it promptly arrived. I was more than pleased when I took it out of the box. It was far more sturdy than i had expected and looked far better than in any picture. It did in fact come with a certificate of authenticity. I am very very satisfied with the purchase. criticisms - the piece that is supposed to have the musashi stamp does in fact have the stamp but doesn't fit, it wobbles around all the time. I'm unsure about the small oil colored lines that run throughout the blade, can't seem to wash them off but polishing may take care of that, however it may be just what the steel is supposed to look like (never owned this type of steel blade). It wasn't really that sharp at all, couldn't even cut into paper. Had to sharpen it myself and since i'm inexperienced I left some pretty gnarly scratches. It scratches extremely easily but i guess thats inevitable with something that is being used to cut things. If you want it for a display piece don't use it

Had a very small rust spot. Not a big deal. It came off with 1,000 grit. Almost with the 3,000 grit Japanese Whetstone. Very happy for the price. $300.00 for a $600.00 Katana. Very sturdy, and thick. I was looking for a solid, practical sword for self defense purposes. After scouring Amazon, this is where I decided to take my chances. I am VERY pleased! This sword is definitely well made. The katana is not as tight in the scabbard(top of the Wakizashi) as the Wakizashi is in the scabbard. This makes it easy to pull out the katana with out revealing the hidden Wakizashi.

Looked at reviews and other swords(like the one that comes with 3 and stand) and decided to get this one. BEST decision!! This sword is beautiful and well made and when you hold it in your hands you know where that extra money went. When I swing it around and pretend to slay zombies or intruders or whatever I know that the sword wont fly out of the handle. I got it from one of my friends as a gift, it's a very good quality sword, i can't believe it's only around $100. I bought similar one in Japanese town 2 years ago but that cost me $350!!!
